17 New York City Police Officers have been indicted by a Bronx grand jury in the latest episode of the wide-ranging investigation. The NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau began the investigation 3 years ago when an officer being investigated for ties to a drug gang made incriminating statements about ticket fixing on a wiretap.
The investigation began in the Bronx, however it has now spread throughout the city. As many as 400 police officers face departmental charges.
