Former Probation Chief O’Brien Indicted

Former Commissioner of Probation in Massachusetts, John O’Brien has been indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on charges he exchanged political donations to former state Treasurer Timothy Cahill for a job for O’Brien’s wife. Cahill was not indicted, however, his Chief of Staff Scott Campbell was indicted.

The investigation was handled by Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office. The indictments were handed down in June, but unsealed today according to the Boston Globe.

John MacLaughlan is Massachusetts licensed attorney as well as a Boston police officer. John is currently assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit). He is a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Law with a concentration in Labor Law.
