Gov. Patrick proposes adding $300 million to state “rainy day fund”…Quinn Bill still unfunded

According to an article on Boston.com, Governor Deval Patrick has proposed adding an additional $300 million from last year’s surplus to boost the state’s rainy day fund to over $1 billion dollars.

That is a 1 with 9 zeros, or $1,000,000,000.

The overall surplus from last year’s budget was $460,000,000.

The Quinn Bill was budgeted at $50,000,000 as recently as 2009 before it was gradually stripped away and is now not budgeted at all by the state.
