Detroit Police Shooting Video

The Detroit Police Department released closed circuit video of a shootout that occurred at a Detroit Police precinct.

In the shooting, a gunman entered the precinct and shot four officers with a pistol grip shotgun before being killed by an officer. All four officers survived, the most seriously injured was a commander who was shot in the lower back. A female officer was shot in the chest, however, her bullet-resistant vest stopped the round from entering her body.

The police station is one of the Detroit Police Department’s eight district offices. Members of the public who enter the station do not pass through metal detectors or otherwise undergo a security screening. There is also no secure door or bullet proof glass protecting the front desk area.
