Slain Miami Dade Officers Memorial Service

A moving tribute was given by the Director of the Miami Dade police department at the Memorial service for the slain Officers. The video can be found here.

“I will not pretend to understand evil for all of my experience,” says Miami-Dade Police Director James Loftus. “I will not pretend to even want to understand evil, because I fear that if I do, a darkness will cover my heart and it will shadow my soul.”

It is not often we find ourselves at a loss of words. His words were pointed, meaningful, heartfelt, and not one was said in waste. Veteran detectives Roger Castillo, 41, and Amanda Haworth, 44 were both gunned down on January 20th by a career criminal who was wanted for murder. Simms ambushed them and 2 others when they arrived to take him into custody.

I strongly recommend watching the video in its entirety. Already, in the last 24 hours of this writing 11 more police officers have been shot. Be safe.
