2010 Governors Race

The race for Governor is starting to heat up and according to a recent poll, Patrick has to be sweating this one out. According to a new Public Policy poll, the numbers look like this: Patrick (D) 29%, Baker (R) 27%, Cahill (I) 21%

What does this mean? Patrick has been pretty consistently pulling in between 29% and 33% in most polls, which pretty much represents his base. While Baker is still largely unknown to the electorate, this means a higher ceiling for Baker and a plateau for Patrick. The favorable/unfavorable numbers are as follows,  Gov. Patrick: 22 / 59, Charlie Baker: 17 / 13, and Tim Cahill: 24 / 22.

Running neck and neck with a largely unknown opponent with such large disapproval numbers could spell big trouble for the sitting Governor. Flagmen could lose their biggest lobbyist on beacon hill. Stay tuned.
